"Adaptation" was created only after processing the death of both biological parents. The narrative also harkens back to a time as a child of divorce, the chaos of that, and how I learned to adapt to two lives. Adaptation, flexibility and resilience became three core characteristics I developed to survive the consequences of these types of life events. As the visual narrative suggests, one can stand alone from the chaos tethered only by self reliance, tenacity, and love from parents. Adaptation was made using charcoal, graphite pencil, acrylic paint and chalk pastel on un-primed canvas. Cy Twombly, Joan Mitchell and Jim Dine are obvious influences.
